Still Here

I know, I know. I haven't posted much of late. I'm still here, though. I've been going through the processes needed to begin my career here in New York and I have to tell you, I forgot how time consuming (and money consuming) it is. It seems as though the moment I figure out what I need to do, I realize that there is something else that needs to be done before that gets done. But wait, there's something ELSE that needs to be done before THAT! It's been a little overwhelming, although, honestly, I've known that there will be alot to be done. Throw in my day job and all I want to do on my days off is sit around and do nothing. Which leads me to my arduous process of self-motivation. I'm making a conscious effort to get off my ass and do what needs to be done. I didn't come to New York to work at Outback Steakhouse.

So, I'm still here. Physically if not completely mentally. I feel like I've got a decent bead on where I need to go and what I need to do to get there. Now it's a matter of actually doing it.

I See the Light!

It's funny how I can watch things since moving to New York and they have new meaning. Take, for instance, Law and Order today (the original, because it's the best... although SVU is good too). Like many of the episodes, I had seen this one before. Detective Briscoe was banging on a suspect's door claiming he was there to check for a gas leak. When the guy opened the door he said, "You're not ConEd!" ConEdison is our local utilities company. Earlier in the episode, one of the characters was telling the police that the man of whom he was speaking was located in Williamsburg. They also spoke of going to Astoria to get some coffee. Now I know where all of these places are, and they're not far from us! It's fun to see the little things like that that tell me that we live here. I love these moments.

Welcome to NY!!!

So, I'm a little late in posting this as we've been here for a week now. However, in this week we've climbed mountains. We arrived in the city on the second of June. We were making phone calls and setting up appointments to look at apartments three hours before we even arrived into the city. An hour after we arrived into Brooklyn, we were off to look for a place to live. The first place we found was in Greenpoint. It's a small one-bedroom (believe that, it's small! In New York!) with tons of character. After that we looked at places that we would NEVER live in, to be read, "Complete shit holes." Long story short, the following day we signed a two-year lease for the place in Greenpoint and haven't looked back. We love our new 'hood! Since then I've secured a job for myself and since already started. And today we ventured into Chelsea to buy an A/C unit to combat this ridiculous heat we've been feeling. So, when we do move into our place this Sunday we can do so in some semblance of comfort. Beth is still looking for a job, but I have all the faith in her and her talent that she'll find something relatively soon. All this said, it has been an amazing adventure and we are so ready to get settled into our new place. I love this city!!!

Chris *heart*s Cloverfield

If you've been around me during the past few months you know how much I love this movie. I saw it twice in the theater, and with great excitement I bought it yesterday. After watching it last night I decided that it is precisely the movie that I want to be in. Oh, and I want to die in it. Or maybe in the second one. I mean, really, how awesome would it be to die in a well-produced monster movie? FREAKING awesome, that's how awesome it would be. I want to make that happen.

A Duck Walks Into a Bar...

... and says, "Chris is moving to New York!" Yeah, if you haven't heard already, we're moving to New York at the end of May. The best part is that auditions have been few and far between, up until now that is. Since I told my agent a week ago that I am moving I've had three auditions, all of which I haven't been able to go to because I can't afford to take the time off of work. It kinda sucks how the acting industry works sometimes. And here I go wading into the deep end. This is gonna be sweet!!! I can't wait to shake things up!
